NNA - Outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati reiterated that the official Lebanese stance is committed to the dissociation policy regarding the Syrian crises and to "Baabda declaration" as for not interfering in other countries' affairs, stressing that the current stage is an extraordinary one and that the army has a green card to act as it deems appropriate.
Mikati said that it is important to activate adherence to interior Lebanese constitutional dates on top of them holding the elections and forming a new cabinet which represents all Lebanese political parties.
"The sharp political alignment would certainly lead to a comprehensive national demolition", Mikati said, indicating that extensive efforts to regain trust among political parties are required to start a responsible serious dialogue that would preserve our national and constitutional principles.
He added that from this perspective, all Lebanese parties should come together away from sectarian intolerance and seek to reach, as soon as possible, agreement on a new election law. A law acceptable by most political parties and forms an entrance to hold elections and allows the Lebanese people to choose whom they see appropriate to represent them.
Mikati followed up with security leaders on the developments in Tripoli confirming that the Lebanese army has full authority to take the procedures and measures that they see appropriate to end security incidents and arrest perpetrators.
Mikati reiterated calls to political leaders and figures to cooperate with the army and security forces to control the situation and keep Tripoli away from political polarization.
On another note, Mikati was briefed, over the phone, by Lebanon's permanent representative to the Arab League, Khaled Ziadeh, on the outcome of the latest meeting of the council of the Arab League representatives over the incidents in Syria which took place in Cairo.
The outgoing Premier gave Ziadeh the needed instructions as for stressing Lebanon's commitment to the dissociation policy and calling upon Lebanese parties not to get involved in Syria's incidents to preserve Lebanon's unity.
Separately, Mikati stressed that he and all other Former Prime Ministers are keen on preserving the position of Dar El Fatwa to keep it the "Sunnite sect religious reference".
Also, PM Mikati received the Lebanese Ambassador to Belgrade Tawfiq Jaber, and the Lebanese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Nidal Yahya.
